Accommodation

Nothing beats the thrill of taking on overseas competition on their own turf, but from previous long haul tour experience we know that time spent with the opposition off the pitch is just as important. Socialising, eating together and swapping stories cultivates the friendly side of rivalry and creates lasting memories. There is no better way to dive into a destination’s culture and make time to bond than by staying with your hosts in their homes. From gathering round the family TV to watch the rugby, to possibly learning new skills with players from farming families, billeting opens up a world of friendship and cultural exchange that lifts the tour out of the ordinary.

Detailed planning for billeting

Tour members usually get to stay with someone from the team they are playing, or with another of the schools student’s family. The tour management team work with the tour company and hosting schools well in advance of arriving in New Zealand to make all the necessary arrangements to ensure the experience is rewarding for everyone; liaising with the host school to carefully match hosts to guests, taking into account playing positions, age and other factors.

The composition of billets varies depending on the size of players’ parent's houses, but most often it’s a single guest to a single host. We will share special requirements and/or needs if required.

Perfectly picked hotels

Whilst we actively encourage billeting where it’s an option, however we are also aware that some locations where it is not available or a logistical option we work with the tour company to engage trusted hotels to supplement tour accommodation needs. All hotels meet strict safety standards and are equipped to deal with school groups. We make sure they are located within in easy reach of our fixtures or tour activity and offer plenty of good food (if agreed), for the team to refuel after a hard day competing or training. As and when hotels are agreed and booked, we will share their details and websites (if available) so that the touring party can get a feel for their adventure on the other side of the world !!!
